HI! I’m Cory and I’m so glad you’re here!
I love people. ALL people. My big red front door is a constantly revolving turnstile of friends, family, loved ones, neighbors, and even strangers! Welcoming people into my home is one of my favorite things to do. So, consider this your official welcome.
One of the first things you would see as you passed over the threshold is a huge wall of photos. And hanging just above the portraits of my children, my husband and our family, is a sign that says “Every family has a story – Welcome to ours.”
When I was in the third grade I was given the assignment to write a “backward fairy tale.” My first stab at it was pretty dismal and my aunt, who was a college English professor, quickly dismissed my very rough draft and sent me back to try again. She challenged me to think harder; to write what no one else could write; to see the story from a perspective that only I could offer. After trying, again and again, to get it just right, I was so pleased when my teacher selected my paper to be turned into a book for the Parent Night Art Show! Something inside of me lit up that day, and writing has been a part of my life ever since.
Expressing myself in the written word has become the very breath in my lungs, because when the spoken word fails, if I’m too sad, or too angry, or too overcome with joy, my fingers can always seem to put pen to paper (or keys to screen) and express what my lips cannot.
I have attached to my name the tagline Pursuing His Purpose in Every Season because that is exactly what I do, and try to share, here in this space. I write about the many seasons of my life, and the varying purposes I have found within each. And just like fall changes to winter, and then spring, and summer, before returning back to fall once again, I too cycle through seasons. Sometimes I write about my marriage. Others I write about my children and the many facets of parenting. Occasionally I write about my past and the struggles I have experienced – including heartbreak, abandonment, and feelings of brokenness. And while my topics of writing change as often as the seasons, there is one constant in everything I write – God’s purpose. There is always something for me to learn from my experiences.
And I share them with you because, just maybe, there is something that will help you to find His purpose in your seasons too.
So come on inside. Take a look around. Think of these blog links below as the pictures that decorate my walls, each one telling a story from within a different season.
Stay as long as you like, and I hope you will come back again and again.
In His grace,
